Energy Drinks Script

This is the script that was used for the Energy Drinks version of the ORCA pre-pilot assessment. If you would like to view the script for the Asthma version of the ORCA assessments instead, you can do that here. This Energy Drinks script shows the exact language that was used in the Energy Drinks ORCA, the language that students actually saw while they were taking the Energy Drinks ORCA. The script contains links to the email message containing research task instructions that students viewed during the assessment, as well as to the actual websites that students visited.  Note that the Energy Drinks task is restricted. This means that students are given the names of specific articles to search for.  This is unlike the Asthma task, in which students are not given names of specific articles but instead are asked to search for information about a particular aspect of the research question.

Notes

1. Help prompts appear in bold. These prompts only appear in the assessment if the student exceeded response time parameters at a location.

3. Mr. Henry is the name of the teacher avatar used in the assessment.

4. Jordan is the name of the second student avatar, used for the critical evaluation section only.

5. Each test taker’s first name appears in the assessment where the words “FIRST NAME” appear in this script. Student’s first and last initials appear where “FN” appears in the script.
